Derek Charles Bartholomaus is the younger of two sons from Dale Ulrich Bartholomaus and Mary Lou (Couch) Bartholomaus. Craig William Bartholomaus is the eldest son.
Derek was born in the Northern Chicago Suburb of Wilmette. He lived in the same house on Gregory Avenue until he went to college. Derek attended Columbia College of Chicago from 1988-1992. In 1993 Derek moved from his apartment near the Lakeshore and Lincoln Park to Southern California to pursue his career.
Derek has always been intensely interested in movies and television shows and now works as a Post Production Supervisor/Producer on various television shows. Derek worked on Fear Factor for the show’s third and fourth seasons, as well as a series for MTV called “Wanna Come In?” Derek is also a member of the Producers Guild of America and is currently serving on the Associate Producers Council Board of Governors.
In November of 2000 Derek proposed to Emily Hay and she accepted. Emily is a musician and works as a paralegal at a law firm that represents music stars. They don't have a wedding date set yet, but they will be married sometime.
Derek and Emily’s family also consists of two dogs, Tommy (a boy) and Freddy (a girl) and one cat, Sweet Tooth. Emily’s 18-year old cat named Little Grey (aka “Catty”) recently died.
Derek also has his own weblog and updates it semi-regularly.
